The SOHI KUBWA DISTRICT came into being on this 13th day of June 2020 as retired staff of Julius Berger Company living in disputed quarters of the company in Kubwa, Abuja, were identified as a group that needed aid during the harsh COVID-19 lockdown.  The inhabitants of the quarters, mainly Igbos, had not been paid any retirement benefits since 1999 and were still in court with Julius Berger for their rights to continue living in the quarters until their retirement benefits have been paid.  It provided an opportunity to progress Igbo culture while supplying palliatives to the community.  The inaugural meeting had about 65 persons with most of them being above 50 years and the youngest being 35 years old.
