Part of the mission of SOHI is to promote literacy amongst indigenous tribes. At
the SOHI Kubwa District in Abuja (an Igbo District), out of 65 members only 2
were literate in Igbo language while 4 others could barely read Igbo. It became
imperative that teaching of Igbo alphabets, numerals and reading be introduced,
with the goal of getting every member able to count properly and read the Igbo
Bible by the end of the year.
